Why I Speak Up

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.” ― Rob Siltanen

In a world rampant with cancel culture, censorship, and wokeism, speaking up comes with real risks. For many, the potential downside is not worth it, and these voices have been silenced or self-censored. But not everyone is willing to give up their freedom of speech so easily. These people have risen to the challenge. They have found their voice and the strength within needed to speak up – regardless of the outcome. They are the new rebels.

The consequences of speaking up today can be enormous – from social stigmatization to social media bans to loss of employment to ruined relationships. Yet, there are people who acknowledge the repercussions involved and still speak up. Why? Are you one of those people? Has a fire been ignited within you? Have you harnessed your voice and strength to speak up? We want to hear from you – and we want to know your why. Why do you speak up? Share your story on Parler with #WhyISpeakUp.
